The Government of Karnataka on August 03, 2026, issued the Instruction regarding Coordination with State Mining Authorities for sharing information relating to illegal mining and transportation of minerals.
The CBIC has directed all Principal Chief Commissioners/Chief Commissioners of CGST Zones to establish a structured mechanism with State Mining Authorities for periodic sharing of information on illegal mining, illegal transportation of minerals, seizure of minerals/vehicles, cancellation or suspension of mining leases, excess extraction and other mining-law violations. A Nodal Officer shall be designated in each CGST Zone to coordinate with the respective State Mining Department. The information received shall be analysed to identify potential GST implications, including suppression of taxable supplies, non-registration, undervaluation, non-payment/short payment of GST and wrongful availment of input tax credit, with appropriate action under the CGST Act, 2017 and Rules. Relevant intelligence is also required to be disseminated to jurisdictional Commissionerates/DGGI formations, wherever necessary, and periodic meetings with State Mining Authorities shall be held to review the effectiveness of the information-sharing mechanism.
